Or, maybe I do.
I was given the news that sometime around the first of September I would inherit this title. . .
GRANDMA
As overjoyed as I was, it didn’t take but a few seconds to start thinking, really???? What does a grandma look like these days?
Does she dress in maxi skirts with high heels?
Or is it best to stick with a maxi skirt and sandals?
I’m sure she should wear a fun hat, right? Oh, and of course some BIG sunglasses (lol)
When I think of the word grandma, this is what I picture.
(my darling grandma with me and my little sister)
My grandmother always wore a dress, and lots and lots of different hats.
The word grandmother also brings to mind
-toast with marmalade jam
-lilac bushes
-the smell of gardenia
-a big rocking chair
-stack of books
-women quilting
-women playing bridge
-rose gardens
-weekly appointments to the hair salon (and then sleeping with toilet paper pinned on their heads).
-always being at home
-full of LOVE, SMILES, and ACCEPTANCE
This new grandma
– will most likely put on some nike shoes for a morning run
– still loves sporting her boyfriend jeans
– has a difficult time keeping the speed limit
and
-is still known to yell at referees and umpires.
BUT she will
-share her love of reading with you
-share her love of entertaining with you
-take you for nature walks
-take you shopping
-be a listening hear
And most of all she will LOVE, SUPPORT and ACCEPT you every step of your life.
What are some memories you have of your grandmother?
And, if you already have this title, what do they call you?
I’m leaning towards Grandma Queena (just joking) although this is the new charm baby to be gave me.
Thanks for dropping by, have a wonderful day:)
I’m now heading over to Patti’s for Visible Monday.

Congratulations for the news. You will be a fashion chic grandmother, sure. A grandmother funny, smart and attractive, far from the stereotype. A grandmother wearing a skirt today gorgeous, with heels or sandals. I love your hat.
trinagrandinetti says
You so so incredibly kind, Josep-Maria. It will be a truly rewarding experience.

Congrats, Trina! Woot woot!
You’re my kind of grandma! Fashionable and chic!! I LOVE your maxi!
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you Jeannie, we did find out she is having a little girl so I can now be her personal stylist, right?
tamerabeardsley says
Oh my dear… huge congratulations to you as you move to this next exciting transition! I am sure you will do this next phase with much style and passion! You inspire me always with your devotion to family…. and your relishing in every aspect of what that means.
When the time comes… I’m leaning towards the title of ‘glammom’ myself. So very happy to have found you my dear!!
trinagrandinetti says
Tamera, ‘glammom’ is absolutely PERFECT for you, I’m still laughing. Can’t wait for you to become this one day.
CindyGee says
You will be the best grandma ever!! I can’t wait to join you! I think I am going to be Grammy. I will try to be as stylish as you.
trinagrandinetti says
I can’t wait for you to join me too. We both know I have learned a great deal about style from the one and only (YOU).
trinagrandinetti says
Oh, and thanks for checking out my blog and new hobby.

Congratulations on the little girl to come into this world. Lucky she will be to have a grandma like you – I did not have one, but your words discribe exactly my dream-grandma. Wonderful to find a nice happy site dealing with us “Youngsters” over 21!!!!!!! I am a follower now.
trinagrandinetti says
So glad to have found your blog as well, Carina, it is beautiful. I so enjoyed my field trip today.

Congratulations! Love the maxi skirt with the sunburst plus your adorable bow tie sandals. What a beautiful picture of you by the glass door wearing the white sweater. You are one gorgeous grandma!

Thank you, you are so kind.

Congratulations on the great news! You’re a chic, stylish Grandma who will be the sunshine of her grandchildren’s lives. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday xoxo
trinagrandinetti says
I surely hope so, it definitely will be a great adventure.
Spashionista says
Your grandchild will be lucky to have such a fashion forward Granny. I love both of these looks on you. It’s time to reinvent how the world sees it’s “Grannies” 😉

It sure is! Although my own mother is 70 and is absolutely adorable, she has already told us she will be called GG (for great grandma).
Dawn Elliott - AlterEgoMexicana says
First of all, congratulations! I have a draft about Grandma’s started, as well…they are not the Grannies of yesteryear anymore! Love your lists of what you remember about your Grandma, then the list for yourself. (I maintain that rock and roll music is a big part of why we boomers are still so young!) Lookin’ great!
trinagrandinetti says
Is that the answer? I knew there was a reason I rock out to Bon Jovi in my car. Can’t wait to read your post on Grandma’s.
kathleenlisson says
You look great in your hat! My grandmother loved wearing her 70’s fashion – polyester suits. I think children can dress up so cute, it’s fun to go out dressed nicely with them!
trinagrandinetti says
Couldn’t agree more, and that’s another thing grandma’s are good for, buying the nice clothing for them, right?
alisonlumbatis says
Congratulations! What a cool post. I have a lot of the same memories of my grandma, especially the lilac trees. Your chic maxi skirt and fun sandals say a lot about your style and there’s nothing grandma about it!
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you Alison for dropping by today, I do miss those lilac bushes.
Four Seasons One Wardrobe says
I have to say that you are a hot grandma to be! I do miss that grandmam’s today don’t wear cute little dresses with floral prints!
trinagrandinetti says
Well, maybe I’ll just have to go find a cute floral dress. I think that’s a perfect excuse for a new one.
Sylvia @ 40PlusStyle says
What a fun post. You certainly do not look anything like a grandma. What a difference with our own grandmothers! Congratulations! It must be very exciting for you. Quite a milestone…
trinagrandinetti says
No, we do not look at all like our grandmother’s, thats for sure. And for that matter, we don’t act like them either (that might not be a good thing). I am thrilled about the news and looking forward to this great day. I’m very grateful for airplanes and skyping due them living in another state.
Connie Nelson says
Love Love Love the picture of you with your grandma and little sister, I believe I know the person that took that on an Easter Sunday about 45 years ago. It is indeed thrilling to see my little Trina become that awesom grandma that I know she will be and my first born granddaughter be the awesome first time mommy. I on the other hand will very much enjoy being GG, CAN’T WAIT!!
trinagrandinetti says
I know it was longer than 45 years ago because there is no way I was 5 at the time, more like 47 years ago. But for you to remember that it was an Easter morning makes it even better.
jangrahammcmillen says
Congrats, and don’t worry. We’re GrandJan and GrandDan. No you don’t look like a grandma, but there are all kinds of Grannies these days!
Looking lovely!
trinagrandinetti says
Jan, I think I would rather look like this child’s grandma than to be mistaken for her mother. I love your fun names and how perfect. My hubby’s nick-name, which he goes by is Par, so he will be known has Papa Par, is that cute or what?
Sue @ A Colourful Canvas says
Aw, congratulations Trina! You will be a wonderful grandma, for certain! I always feel your warmth and generosity in your posts, and your grandchild is blessed to have you for his/her grandma. Lucky little one!
You look so pretty today, as always. The lace shirt is so lovely. Actually both looks are pretty, I can’t really pick a favourite.
My grandmas were so different from each other. My Grandma baked, and hugged, and when we’d stay overnight, we’d get to choose those little box cereals for breakfast. My Nana was artsy and she took me the theatre and let me wear all of her fantastic costume jewelry.

trinagrandinetti says
Oh, you are so sweet, but I’m truly the lucky one. My grandmother’s too, were so different from one another. The one spent hours reading and quilting, the other spent her fun hours playing bridge and shopping. One was full of mischief, while the other was very proper (kind of boring when I was young). Isn’t it wonderful that we were able to inherit a bit from each?
silkpathdiary says
You look fabulous! I don’t have many memories of my grandma so it’s especially good that my kids spend a lot of time with my mother. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your kind comment!
trinagrandinetti says
So glad you paid a visit here, thanks for dropping by.
nofearoffashion says
Congratulations!! What a wonderful news. Now that is news I am not going to get. As I don’t have any children (little drawback of that fact haha). But I can imagine that your heart is bursting from your body with joy.
You look great in maxi. I keep seeing maxi on blogs and I don’t have any maxi skirts or dresses. Something is wrong here.
Both your booties and sandals are to die for. Gosh you have an impressive shoe collection.
trinagrandinetti says
Greetje, I’m sure you will someday be many children’s adopted grandma, and you will be so much fun! And, yes, something is wrong because you would look simply devine in a maxi skirt. We need to find you one. Come on over and we’ll do a little shopping, haha.
nofearoffashion says
I don’t know yet. Maxi can make me look like a stick as I don’t have any hips and I am quite tall. Still a bit scared to try them on.
Oh… and I am a stepmom. So I might become a stepgrandma.
Suzanne says
I just love that maxi skirt! That is definately not something I would have remember my Grandma wearing. My Grandma sewed all of her own clothes. How I wish I had inherited that great talent. Also she had the biggest garden and nicest yard and was an amazing cook. I really do miss both of my Grandmas.
I am sure you will love being a Grandma. My parents tell me it’s all the fun without all the stress.
