It may seem like a silly question, do you believe in fairies . . .
but when i took the time to look around my yard and noticed how many little fairies were beginning to appear and magically create beautiful homes in their surroundings, not to mention how much joy they were bringing me. . .
well of course I believe in fairies!
I couldn’t resist bringing a few indoors for awhile to help host a fairy garden tea party.
I had a picture in my crazy brain of a fairy garden as my table scape and I knew with the help of my fairies, it would certainly come alive.
I began with my invites
Then I found the perfect dishes (knowing before hand I would accent with succulents
dishes and napkin rings are from world market (and no, I’m not being paid to tell you this)
I bought some real moss from Michael’s craft store to lay down as the table runner and then began creating an indoor fairy garden.
Can you tell how much fun I had? It was almost as if the fairies built it themselves and when I turned on their fairy lights at night, serious magic appeared. (you can see this on my instagram)
My menu was kept “garden” healthy and I cooked cauliflower, asparagus, salmon and baby potatoes all on the traeger grill. Dessert was lemon sorbet and donuts.
I even hung some succulents from my chandelier.
I think one of the best parts was creating each friend a their own little mini fairy garden to take home. I created these a few days in advance and each day I would go down to the table and check on them, giving them a little spray of water. I found myself talking to each little fairy making sure she was doing ok until her new owner would take over. As we were gathered around the table the evening of the party and I told them this, it occured to me that those of us who believe in fairies will find ourselves talking to them and telling them how magical they are and how precious they look and so forth and yet do we take the time to tell ourselves the same thing? I challenged each of my precious friends that every time they looked at their little fairy gardens to remember how much I loved them and how magical and beautiful they are.
There, you see, it’s so worth believing in fairies!!!
*a little side note
As I was gathering bits and pieces from stores for this event I had several people ask what they were for and when I would tell them it’s for a fairy garden party, they would instantly smile and then say, Oh what a lucky little girl you have . . . hahaha. When I would proceed to tell them that it was for my friends (most over 50) they would jump for joy and say “can I be your friend”? No one ever outgrows the joy of being surrounded by friends, my you all find the time to surround yourself with this gift of friendship.

It is enchanting, it is lovingly, it is fantastic. I love the idea and certainly the execution. And I believe that everything is energy. And if you put energy in every friend’s fairy, I think that energy went home with them. Big cheers. As I always say: friends are the salt of the earth.

What a fun idea for a party theme! As usual, you did a fantastic job with your tablescape and take away gifts.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, as adults we need to keep some magic in our lives.
One of these days I hope to attend one of your great parties.
