IT’S OK TO SMILE

My life took a complete and unexpected turn a few weeks ago when my sweet, incredible mother unexpectedly passed away. This was a woman who seriously went about spreading complete JOY from morning until night to everyone she came in contact with.  As I was looking over photos of her last evening there is not ONE photo where she is not smiling from ear to ear.  Just a beaming ray of genuine joy.  She didn’t need to pretend to be joyful, that’s simply how she lived her life.

I haven’t even thought about doing a blog post, let alone an instagram post, they both seemed a little out of sorts or not important any longer. Until . . . yesterday when I was spending time with my dad (yes, this is now a daily occurrence and one I wouldn’t trade for the world) and he said, “Oh, today you need to teach me how to check your instagram and your blog because that’s one thing your mom did all the time and she would definitely want me to continue to do so.” When I mentioned it all seemed quite silly and I wasn’t sure if I would even continue, he quickly put a stop to that and told me that tomorrow he better see a fun post with a great smile just for him.

And although at times it’s a little difficult to find that smile all I need to do is think of that incredible ray of sunshine my mom shared at all times and the smile appears.

Along with the her glowing smile, my mother also shared her love for fashion and she would find any excuse for a lunch date so she could get dressed up for the day.

So . . . here’s to thinking of you my sweet fun loving mother.

I know she would have got a kick out of the anklets . . .

*I also want to thank all you my friends for reaching out to me during this most difficult and fragile time in my life.  I truly appreciate all of you.

My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother, Trina. The wise words of your father made me smile and here you are. Your Mum sounds like sunshine and I see that in you and your family too, a precious legacy. Oh yeah, those anklets would have made her smile even bigger – they make me smile. Big warm hug. xo

Trina, your words made my eyes leak a little with sadness at first, then as I read on, a little leaky with joy. Your mom must have been a lovely person to raise a daughter like you – it comes through in your blog. She left you gifts and now one more from her may be an even greater bond with your Dad. A mother’s love is never far away.

Apparently somebody up there was against my lengthy comment as it disappeared before I could hit publish.
Let me just say then that I am deeply sorry for you and your loved ones. Having to miss your mum, and such a sweet one, must be the most horrible thing. I also feel so sad for your dad. Missing his partner.
You are putting up a very brave face and you look highly fashionable. I agree your mum would have loved it I bet.
    Hang in there girl.
    Hugs

    Hello Trina.
I am so terribly sorry about your loss. I am however, very certain that you are much like your beautiful mother, and that she would love this post, What a wonder father to have, hold him close.
I lost both parents and my brother in the last five years. I also just lost my dog, but wonderful memories remain, and I can still feel the light of them, if that makes sense.
I wish you a beautiful holiday season, even with this loss. Your mom would be proud. You have a beautiful family and are an inspiration to your readers.
On a lighter note, your outfit is fab, right down to the anklets !
    Keep posting!
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
    Sincerely, Elle
