One thing that makes my momma heart soar with happiness is to see that my love for entertaining has been carried through to my daughter. when my children were growing up I always made their birthday celebrations special no matter their age. As we all know part of throwing a party of any kind works best if you stick with a theme.
And for Cal’s first birthday my daughter, Tori decided on a “monkey” theme since she constantly calls this little one, “Cal Monkey”.
She sent out the cutest invitations a few weeks in advance
and then the two of us got busy creating some “monkey” business . . .
I ordered several “monkey” theme story books that I knew could be used as a fun display as well as add to Cal’s own library.
We added “monkey treats such as banana candies, banana flavored taffy, banana chips and real banana’s for guest to munch on during the party or to take home. Molly helped by sticking little monkey stickers to cellophane bags (it’s the little things that make a difference).
Tori made a batch of muddy buddies which we put inside individual treat bags with little tags we created “thanks for hanging out with me” as a party favor.
She also had indiviual monkeys for the each of the kiddos to adopt and take home as well.
Guest were greeted with a Welcome to the jungle sign we made (I found this at the dollar store and simply spray painted the wood yellow and then created the sayings on the computer and printed it off on sticky paper to adhere to the wood).
As well as some homemade banners.
We crinkled and rolled craft paper to look like vines and then added some leaves to make the patio a little more jungle friendly.
Tori ordered two huge jungle backdrops off amazon which she hung across the back fence for a photo backdrop and placed a jar of props close by.
(smart choice for cute momma with the banana earrings)
If the kiddos weren’t busy running in and out of the monkey inflatable pool, they were enjoying some banana flavored creamies.
Do you think this little Cal Monkey enjoyed his smash cake?
And what a brillant hostest this daughter of mine is, she decided to have the entire meal catered from Rubbi Grill -serving both teriyaki chicken and pork with yummy vegi’s and rice . . . totally jungle style in my book.
See, my friends, how easy it is to throw a fun party?
As always, thanks so much for dropping by, have a wonderful day.
