I woke up the other day with the sound of birds chirping away, which in my book is the best alarm clock ever! As I looked out my window and observed their fun social calling to one another I knew it was time to also gather some friends together. It had been a few months since I had seen a few wonderful ladies (a group who I served at our local temple every Friday with, but this particular temple is now closed for renovation) therefore I quickly sent out a group text to see which evening would be best and then sent out some cute little reminders.
I knew right away I would keep this little dinner social simple and cheery, and sweet, just like those adorable chirping birds who sent me the message to get going on this.
I pulled out my trusty nature wood dishes ( I mean, are they just perfect for this occasion or what ) and began setting up the table.
You know me by now, I can’t let my guest leave empty handed so I bought a few mini terra-cotta pots, gave them a coat of cream paint, filled each with a succulent and some white pebbles, a mini garden tool and a fun birdie tag.
I then gathered some bird and nature inspired accessories from around my home collection to create the table scape.
I simply rolled a few old music sheets and tied them with lace to place inside this vase . . .
And then kept the theme by making this music pinwheel.
Keeping with the nature theme, I wrapped fresh herbs in muslim and tied them up with lace (which will go in my outdoor garden in a few weeks).
I love how this sweet, simple table came together.
I didn’t capture any of the dinner dishes but dessert is always the best part anyways, right? And the best thing about this homemade lemon pudding is I could make it ahead of time, placing it in individual serving dishes and then just a half hour before they arrived I spooned on the whipping cream and a few berries, sprinkled with crushed graham crackers and stuck them back in the fridge until dessert time. Makes for one easy to serve and happy hostess.
So have the birds been calling you to play yet?
As always my friends, thanks for dropping by. Have wonderful day.

Sleeping with the window open is a treat here in Seattle and this morning an owl soothed me awake. And thank you for the lovely decor ideas.

Oh, an owl, now that would be heavenly!

Our poor Robins are confused. Last week it was sunny and now they are trying to dig out from under the snow. I think we are all a bit grumpy about it.
This turned out so sweet! I love the idea of the rolled up sheet music.
Your little party gifts are always so thoughtful.
bisous

Note to Suzanne – old music sheets are one of the first things I try to find when I’m antique/vintage shopping, as well as old lace. I tend to use them for lots of odd and end decorating and gift wrapping.

What a lovely, inventive and inviting table! I hope those birds continue to sing to you!
I love the details you put together, whether it is your outfit or table, it is always so beautiful and so much fun to see.
Love the flowers, the music pinwheels, and the pitted succulents as a special gift to take away!
You are such an elegant hostess!
All I hear is traffic today, the lights are out, so the street signals are not working and there is a bit of mayhem out my window, I will just have to imagine the birds!
