There’s nothing that helps motivate me more than spending a day creating (crafting) with friends.
Yesterday I did just that, spent most of the day crafting away with a group of incredibly fun ladies. Jann, who blogs at jannolson.com played hostess once again, allowing us to make a mess in her home. Bless her heart. I feel so fortunate to have been included among these creative and lovely women. This month it was Shirley fun idea to create some “smashing chics” and a fun mini banner.
Here’s some of our finished creations.
It’s always amazing and fun to see how each project becomes so unique.
And this was just the kick or motivator I needed to finally start dressing my home for Easter.
My little mini banner made a prefect backdrop for an Easter vignette.
I simply tied it to the back of my mirror. And then the inspiration for the rest of the display just fell into place.
I went right outside and cut some branches off a tree to place inside the Easter vase, then hung some vintage paper eggs from the branches.
My little smashing chic looked right at home as well.
This year I get to host Easter brunch.
We decided to fly all our kids home for Easter this year, therefore I decided it would definitely be my turn to host. Along with my family, we will have my parents, as well as my sister’s family over. To say I’m just a little excited is an understatement.
I knew right away I would be using my grandmother’s dessert rose vintage plates (since it took forever for my mother to finally hand them over to me).
Once set the plates out, the tablescape kind of spoke for itself. It just felt right keeping it natural and simple with green plants and succulents.
The only thing I’m still trying to decide on is whether to fill the egg holders with the speckled eggs (which I will adhere their names to) or the carmel filled cadbury eggs? Help me out here dear friends.
Now I’m need to go finish dressing the rest of my home and planning a menu.
As always thanks for dropping by, have a most wonderful day.
Linking up with Jann, Jo, and Carol for SYC and the gals for Thursdays favorite things blog hop.
Well I know that a certain little one would definitely go for the Cadbury eggs, LOL. Having said that, I love the speckled eggs. I would put a little straw basket filler in the cup too.
Your dishes are so gorgeous and they are all the more special because they were your grandmother’s. I saw a very similar set a few weeks back in the thrift store. I hovered over them for quite some time before deciding that I didn’t need them. Now…I really want them. Ah well…I’m quite certain they would be sold by now.
Enjoy that brunch! It sounds fabulous!
Ha, that little one, if you mean Miss Molly is one cadbury eating gal. But she’s definitely a girly girl these days and is on a total “pink’ only kick. She will literally pick out all the pink mini cadbury eggs and gobble them up but won’t touch the yellow, white, or blue ones. No convincing her that they all taste the same, which is probably a good thing so we can all enjoy some as well.
How lovely! I like the little potato masher chick! Super cute!
I like the speckled eggs : )
bisous

I like the speckled eggs too. But, I’ve seriously received text messages from just about every family member asking if its really even a question not to have the carmel eggs, haha.
Everything is lovely! So happy you joined our group!!
So happy I’ve been included.
Everything came together beautifully and I love the nests in the potato mashers, very creative! Have a gorgeous weekend.
Thank you Sandra, and you have a gorgeous week as well.
Your Easter decor is totally fun!
We’ll be away for Easter, but I realize that I should get busy on Easter baskets for my daughter, her boyfriend and his parents. I could get creative like you in how I decorate them.
Thanks for sharing at SCY.
Well, you are one nice lady. My adult children are getting a brunch and that’s it. The Easter basket and egg hunting will all be centered around Miss Molly (the granddaughter).
What a lovely table! You have dressed it with taste and your family will enjoy its warm vibe!
As far as I can see, you are a very creative person and your project is wonderful!!
Thank you Dan. I do have lots of creative energy and I thoroughly enjoy using it to entertain and give to others.
Trina, we did have such a fun day! I love my masher and banner. Looking forward to next month. I love your Desert Rose dishes. Cathy just got a set from Treasures antique mall and has her dining room table set with them as well. They are so perfect for spring. Being the caramel lover that I am I would definitely want the caramel egg. 🙂 Have a wonderful Easter with your family and thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
Well, every member of my family also requested the caramel eggs, so they’ve found their sweat little homes.
Indeed it did, it spoke volumes. What a charming and inventive table, and a great welcome to everyone who sits to dine and celebrate. Your creativity knows no bounds and is always inspiring. (I love those egg cups- perfect for Easter).
And nothing like inherited china, or glasses to make a table feel even more special
Happy Easter!

Ever so cute. The only thing I did was get the big bunny out of the closet and put it on the table. Some fresh flowers in pink and fuchsia….. that is it. Not even eggs. I know…. I am boring.
