You all know one of my greatest loves and pleasures in life is the joy of reading.
And yet, sometimes this joy is as simple as holding a new book in my hands . . .
with the anticipation of what awaits as I open the magic inside.
One way I share my love for reading and books is to “gift a book” to friends on special occasions, usually on their birthdays. It can be a challenge to gift them a novel because you aren’t really sure if they’ve read it or not or if they would actually even enjoy it. Therefore, I always “gift” them a story book, or a picture book of some sort.
Here’s my latest “gifting a book” find.
Yes, it’s a grown-up sort of coloring book, now how fantastic is this?
Just tie some simple lace around it, add a touch of wild or freshly picked flowers and you’re ready to deliver.
Better yet, add a box of colored pencils and your friends will really smile.
May I suggest if you decide to buy one of these, you might as well add another to the basket because you will NOT want to part with it.
I mean just take a peak inside . . .
I’m ready to sharpen my box of pencils and get coloring.
And since its been forever, but I did warn you that my story telling Tuesday might not keep a good schedule, I recently finished the book “How to be both” by Ali Smith. I don’t quite know how to describe my feeling towards this book. It’s a book full of insightful questions which leave you thinking and pondering and searching for answers long after you finish the book. The writing is ingenuous, unique, odd, and interesting all put together. I will say, if you happen to be part of a book club, this novel makes for one excellent book group discussion, so I would definitely add it to your list.
Currently I’m reading “Molokai” by Alan Brennert and so far loving every word.
I just bought this for a friend and I bought myself this one and her other book (Enchanted Forest). I LOVE them!!!
And are you coloring as well? I colored the entire plane ride last week, it was so much fun! I need to go check out the Enchanted Forest.
Yes is have been coloring very minimally. My daughter sure loves it.
Ooooh! I’ve been doing more doodling in my sketch book recently, so this book would be a treasure indeed! You are so thoughtful, not just when it comes to entertaining, but gift giving as well!
Sending you some ALOHA!
Sue, you would absolutely love the coloring book. I can just imagine the vibrant, happy pictures you would create.
I ADORE colouring!!! What a cool gift idea for a friend.

Yep, this is right up your alley. Best way to spend an afternoon, right?
A great gift for a friend! I love to read as well. I think I have Molokai in my books of to read. Look forward to reading it.

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
Oh Alice, Molokai is such a tender hearted read. I finished it last night, so touching.
OK, haven’t really much to say… So I’ll shut up.

Ha, you mean you don’t like to color? I must get you started. Thinking I should send you this for your long plane ride over to Vancouver. What say you?
I have to say that colouring is not my thing, no. So I don’t think I will do that on the 12 hour flight either. Sorry. To me it is something which has no point. I know, I know… it should relax me, it is the proces of being creative. But I am like that.
I used to make paintings. No talent whatsoever, but I liked doing it. Only after 10 paintings which were kept in the shed, never to be hung, I thought “what’s the point?” With me there has to be a point in what I am doing. It has to lead to something.
Looks like a perfect gift! I would enjoyed to receive something like this tremendously!
Seriously, its so precious. It would make a gorgeous coffee table book just by itself, but I have way too much fun coloring in it. Although that could make for fun conversations, right?
I’ll be checking these titles out. I keep a running document with books I’d like to read. I know I’ll never get around to all of them, but I don’t want to “lose” a good read I’ve heard or read about. I’m currently reading Innocence by Dean Koontz and House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. I’m presently into odd sorts of books. Thanks for your encouraging comment on my blog. I appreciated it!
