I don’t know about most of you but I have a difficult time purchasing an item which can be worn for only one type of occasion and place. When I first spotted this ‘party’ or ‘formal’ holiday skirt my mind started thinking of how I could possibly make it a practical skirt as well.
This is what I came up with . . .
For a more formal or dressy occasion I wear it with fishnets and high heels . . .
A black pearl collared tee with a velvet jacket.
And on the days when I want to make it practical . . .
I pull on black tights and booties . . .
And pair it with a simple tee and denim jacket.
This is a great way to vouch for a fun purchase.
Do you ever think this way when you spot an item?
Linking up with Patti for her fun Visible Monday.
Also joining the fun shoe and tell link up party.
And Alice for TBT
This skirt is stunning and I love both ways you’ve worn it. I am with you on reluctance to buy anything that’s only for 1 purpose.

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
Thank you Alice, although I kind of believe you often times purchase items for 1 purpose, you have quite the wardrobe (which is so much fun to look at). I’ll be joining you this Thursday.
Agree with Alice, that skirt is STUNNING! And you my dear is a vision!
Thank you so very much!
Agreed with all, that’s a gorgeous skirt and you look terrific in it! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xo.
I’ve just popped across from Tamera’s blog…lovely to meet you…I like your style…looking forward to reading more 🙂

So glad you dropped by, I’m now clicking over to get to know you a bit.
I LOVE this! I tried on this skirt and was unable to justify it to myself. It looks wonderful on you. I really love how you’ve styled it and I think I even prefer the casual version best. So pretty!

I think I prefer the casual best myself. I can’t tell you how many times I walked past and felt this lovely skirt and just couldn’t wrap my mind on justifying the purchase, that is until it went on sale.
I wish I would think this way, but I hardly ever do. Anja was amazed when she first went through my wardrobe with me, to find I have sets… I have combinations which I wear in one particular way and I hardly ever think of combining it with something else. I know… Bad.
I think you are right in wearing this beautiful dress in more ways. It would be such a shame to let it hang in the closet until the next party. Every day you are alive and healthy is a party.
Greetje
You are so right, everyday should be a party to celebrate this wonderful life. You, my friend, I believe have quite an enormous wardrobe and now I know why.
grin…..
I love it both ways! It’s always fun to rethink the way something “should” be styled!
Isn’t that the truth, I think creative dressing is so much fun.
LOVE it! I had complete faith you could style it “down”. Love it as you wore it, and you described it with fishnets, and in the more casual iteration! I think I like it best this way! But that is me, a tulle and denim gal.
The skirt is a true beauty, as is the woman wearing it!

You are such a dear, and it doesn’t surprise me one bit that you would prefer the dressy version.
Super ways of styling this skirt. Both outfits look terrific on you.
Thank you, Rebecca and thanks for dropping by.
Wow! Blown clean away by your glorious dress-up skirt … and if anyone can make it work for more casual occasions, then it would be you. I can see it with a plain T (or that adorable shiny heart T again) with summer sandals, too. You rock it with sublime ease, always, sweet Trina!
Well, there you go, giving me another fun way to sport up this skirt. And to think I thought of storing it for summer, shame on me.
Hi Trina looking pretty as usual. I love the skirt, and yes, I think of this.. sometimes it may be a passing thought. You have found great ways to wear this where it doesnt have to be a special occasion. THe blue hues in the skirt are fab on you and I am in LOVE with the velvet jacket. pretty color!!
from the link up, please stop by, jess xx

I don’t buy stuff that can only be worn one way, did not even do it for my wedding dress 😉 That said, I really dig the second look, it’s the kind of thing I’d be doing and the skirt goes really well with the denim jacket. And I hear the shirt teehee.
