Have you heard of Jekyll Island? If not, your with a lot of others including myself, until a few weeks ago when I decided to join my hubby on a business trip.
His meeting was actually being held in Jacksonville so we decided to make the weekend before a little more entertaining and go somewhere new . . .
unheard of . . .
and so we found ourselves planted magically back in time on the quiet little resort of Jekyll Island.
I won’t go into the history of this beautiful Island, you can all google that for yourselves, but I will gladly share some of the splendid and alluring qualities about this Island.
As we drove up to what is known as the “club resort” you are welcomed by this . . .
(the original clubhouse built in the early 1900’s, I mean take me back to that fun time of history)
Yes, I did spend some time just relaxing in the white chairs.
And of course, my husband and I joined this adorable couple for a game of croquet.
We were told to make certain we had lunch at the Courtyard . . .
I kept pinching myself to know I wasn’t back in England or France . . .
And don’t be fooled by just the atmosphere, the food was AMAZING.
I couldn’t seem to get enough of these mossy trees . . .
or Cinderalla’s carriage . . .
(I really don’t make a very good modern day Cinderalla, forgetting my gown and all)
This is basically how I travel, comfy clothes . . .
A no iron, non wrinkle kind of dress, really comfy shoes and I always throw in or on a scarf in case it gets a bit chilly.
(today I had a dress from banana republic, patent leather vans, scarf from jcrew and later a cardigan from banana republic.)
Our cute waiter saw my camera and quickly adviced us to head over to Driftwood Beach, telling me that I would be awestruck at what I would capture.
I will be forever grateful for his advice . . .
Awestruck indeed . . .
Breathtaking beyond words . . .
It was a quite kind of beauty I had never quite experienced before.
And one I hope to return to again.
As always my friends, thanks for dropping by. Have a most wonderful day.
Linking up with Patti for the ever so fun Visible Monday.
Such a joyous post my friend! What a traveling beauty you are … just wonderful! xoxo
Thank you sweet friend, it was such a wonderful get-away. Looking forward to our next adventure.
What a beautiful place., Trina! And you look lovely as well, in this peaceful setting. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xo.
Thank you, Patti. Have you been to this wonderful place?

What a cool spot! I’m going to Google it now. So much fun that you are able to travel with your husband so often. Mine is in Ethiopia right now.

Ethiopia . . . Now I don’t think I would be joining him for that trip. Now that we are empty nesters I do enjoy packing my bags more often and joining him, but only when the location sounds like it could be adventurous or new or a treasure spot, otherwise I kind of prefer staying at home.
What a magical place! I love the vintage feel of the place. And the driftwood looks like art! Your outfit is perfect and adorable. Just right. Thanks so much for sharing!

You pinpointed it right on, it did have a vintage feel and driftwood beach was natures artwork, that’s for sure.
Wow,what a great couple of finds. So, happy that you and Par are taking time to enjoy each others company. Love the dress!!!
Thanks mom, it is a good time of life, but I’ve learned how to enjoy and savor this time from the best parents in all the land.
What an incredible place. Fantastic. So glad you photographed it all and shared it with us. If I were to live in the neighbourhood I would most certainly visit. As always you look feminine with a gorgeous body in that dress. Even the flat shoes look really good with it. Was the weather that warm that you could go without tights?
Greetje
Yes, the weather was 70 during the day and started chilling down a bit when the sun began to set but I was very comfortable without tights that day. Thank you, for the nice compliment. I can see from your post we two women think alike as far as the flat shoes go. It’s best to be practical and comfortable in my book.
Had it not been for this post, I would have never known the existence of this place. Stunning indeed and had it not been for you looking so modern and chic, this shots could have been from the past!
I really did feel as if I had stepped back in time.
Such an interesting place to visit,Thank you for sharing. You look so comfortable and still stylish in your stripes, the perfect travel outfit.
Thank you Jill.

Trina ,
I don’t think I know where to start. First I will start, I suppose, with that beautiful island. I have never heard of it but it looks so spectacular. It does look like it belongs to another era. And good food is another draw!
I ljust love what you are wearing. That just is much more than comfortable, it is also splendidly beautiful. I love the stripes and the rushing. I also love those gorgeous comfortable shoes.
Now to those shots of the gorgeous Driftwood Beach. These images are simply spectacular. The organic shapes set against the pure blue sky is stunning. I also love the photos that you took of the Cindarella coach, and those mossy trees!
I grew up playing croquet. I am a girly girl, as you know, and that was considered my sport!
Thanks for sharing all of this . I am glad to know of a special place to travel that is in the US!
Love, elle
oh ! I forgot, love the white sunnies and scarf !
