I’m sure you all have daily rituals, but do your routines help kick start your day?
Well, here’s my first 5 daily rituals . . .
#1 SPLASH COLD WATER ON MY FACE AND BRUSH MY TEETH
I don’t think I need to explain why I brush my teeth first thing in the morning. As for the cold water face splash/wash, I don’t know if there is any proven beauty or health benefits other than it wakes me up.
I actually read an article a few weeks ago, I think it was on cleaning, but this cute gal had stated she always made her bed before she left her bedroom each morning. My first thought was, duh, of course you do, doesn’t everyone do that? But she was inundated with responses clearly not agreeing with her reasoning.
I can’t remember how old I was when I was taught to make my bed before I left my bedroom each morning, but I seriously don’t recall ever NOT doing this simple easy task. If you think like me, I’m 99.9% less likely to crawl back into that bed if its nicely made. And, parents of young children, if your reading this, my children NEVER left the house without their beds made.
I think its the hardest thing I have about traveling, leaving the bed unmade.
I carefully lay out my work out clothes before I go to bed each night, this makes it super easy for me to get them on the next morning (while my mind is still trying to wake up). Plus it lets me know exactly what I need to do within the next 30 minutes of my day. I’ve tried the fun way of going down to breakfast in my jammies but I tend to want to stay in them and waste a lot of precious time.
This is my way of inviting the outdoors to come join us inside. I like sunlight, the natural light to help welcome each day. When Molly visits I take her around the home with me and we say at each window “welcome sunshine”. You can’t help but smile and gain some energy from this.
I normally wake up each morning hungry, it’s actually what pushes me out of bed. I like to ‘kick start’ my day with a healthy sort of breakfast. I usually switch off with either cold cereal of frosted mini wheats with fresh strawberries and blueberries and a small glass of orange juice or Hot Cereal which is super yummy. I make mine with steel oats drizzled with a little honey, toppped with fresh berries and then sprinkled with granola.
By now I’m almost awake.
