As I get older and wiser my style seems to be taking on a more simple . . .
more refined . . .
more comfortable look and feeling . . .
And yet when it comes to Christmas decorating . . .
Well, I just can’t help myself . . .
I do love this time of year and filling my home with the season hopefully brings joy . .
and love to all those who enter our home.
For those of you who only enter my home and life through my blog, here’s a little home tour.
My cute husband has a love for the traditional Christmas Colors . . .
So I decorate a room and tree for him.
Full of fun . . .
And whimsical delights . . .
where you can shop at the candy table . . .
it’s also where our family gathers for the gift gathering
and where the stockings are all hung.
And then there’s our ‘formal’ tree . . .
The tree I have decorated since our first year of marriage . . .
I just keep adding to the decorations (the tree just keeps getting larger)
Yes, I do know I’m crazy
I carefully add little decorations throughout the home . . .
And continue to enjoy my early mornings readings by my formal tree.
As always my friends, thanks for dropping by. Have a wonderful day.
You would think my house is bare if you saw it. This year I was even too lazy to set up a tree (first time though. I always had one up to now). I think your trees are beautiful. Never seen any tree so filled with decorations. It is a wonder that the trees don’t crack under the weight.
I was wondering about photo 13, where we see the formal tree in full glory…. those paintings on the wall,… are they normally there? Or did you replace them by Christmas paintings? I think I see Santa Claus on the right one. Is everybody coming over for Christmas? Hope so for you.
Have a lovely time dear Trina.

Good question Greetje! Although I think it’s probably seasonal, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to learn that Santa Claus is actually Trina’s great, great, great grandfather. 🙂
Ha, you two sure know how to brighten my day, you crazy ladies. Just reaffirms my idea that I definitely need to get the two of you here some day.
Hahaha Sue. You are so right. Santa Claus is Trina’s great great great great grandfather! Must be.

After returning from Hawaii and seeing all my Christmas decorations sitting in their bins in my garage, it seriously took everything I had to get it all out this year, so I understand what your saying. I just had the fun daily phone calls and texts from my kids asking if I had the trees up yet. When I realized they still cared, that’s all the motivation this momma needed.
As for the paintings, you are one observant friend, I do switch them out for the season. Kind of sad we only get to enjoy them 4 weeks of the year becuase they are some beautiful paintings.
Yes, everyone is coming for the holidays, Tori and her family will be arriving tomorrow and my son will be flying in on Christmas Eve, I’m counting the hours!
You have a lovely holiday as well.
The fact they are only out for 4 weeks in a year makes them special. It is like eating cakes. If you eat them every day you will not like them anymore. Just now and again it still is a treat.

I love all your seasonal decor posts, and an over the top Christmas post is like icing on the cake! I was initially going to say I was over the top with my tree, minimal with the rest of the house, but having seen you standing on a step ladder in front of a massive tress, I’m downgrading even my tree decorating to moderate, LOL. The tree is my favourite decorating aspect, but I’ve started doing more with my dining room hutch too. Otherwise, just a few snowmen or santa themed ornaments here and there! Happy Christmas Trina!
Happy Christmas to you too, Sue.
Would absolutely love to see that hutch, I think its a wonderful touch decorating the hutch for all to enjoy.
Trina – your home is so beautifully decorated for the holidays. You have such a great eye for this. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Have a Merry Christmas!!!

Thank you Alice, so glad you enjoyed it.
I put everything up and felt Claustraphobic. Took half down and I’m feeling much better. I don’t know if it’s age or that I’m more minimal in my decorating overall, but it’s an interesting evolution. Your trees are beautiful!
I actually understand what you are saying, by December 26th I’m ready for it to all come down and have some breathing space.
Beautiful! Have a very merry Christmas in your lovely home!

Thank you Dawn, wishing you a very Merry Christmas as well.
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home and warm, loving personality with us!
OMG! That tree is HUGE!!! Wow. I feel like a holiday Scrooge now. I only decorated our mantel and a coffee table. Seems that every year I want to decorate less and less. Clearly NOT your problem. LOL
Your house looks amazing. No doubt all the kids LOVE it. I can only imagine you must have a very large area to store it all in the off season.
I’m sure even Santa himself is a bit envious of your house.
Have a wonderful Christmas.
bisous

You are far from being a Scrooge, that I know for sure. Now the storing of the decorations, that actually brings out the Scrooge in my hubby (lol), but at least he continues to do it for me. He does tell people that the worst two days of the year are the day he gets Christmas from storage and the day we put it back.
WOW, I love it, i love the carolers, the santa at the fireplace, the amazement that you have 2 or 3 trees and one that big. We are on a smaller scale. I love the decorations. It really puts one in a festive mood, just beatiful. I just wanted to wish you a Happy Holiday
