As the day of Thanksgiving approaches this week, my thoughts have been turned to . . .
TRADITIONS
Ones that include baking homemade pies . . .
in the early hours of that morning.
And taking some of the hot pudding (from the cream pies) to my children as they lazily sleep in.
Or the tradition of deciding what we will all wear for this family gathering at grandmas house (my mothers).
It’s usually a casual gathering so warm sweaters and slacks are the norm . . .
but once in a while I enjoy ‘dressing up’ a bit,
and taking my pumpkin-colored dress out of the closet for a few days seems quite fitting.
Or the tradition while we are all gathered around the big table . . .
holding hands . . .
and taking turns sharing our grateful thoughts.
This year my children won’t be traveling home for this day . . .
So TRADITONS will be put on hold . . .
I will miss the baking of the pies
and
the choosing of the outfit
and holding the hands with those I love most dearly.
But I will still be ever so grateful . . .
For all the many countless blessings which I have in my life.
May you each have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving.
Heading over to join Patti and all my wonderful blogging friends for visible Monday.
P.S. Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions you hold dear to your heart?
What will you be wearing for your Thanksgiving gathering?
Patti says
Beautiful traditions, Trina, and what a pretty dress – the absolute perfect Fall color. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xo.

Hello wonderful Trina! What a beautiful post. Love the pumpkin colored dress you are wearing and the loving and refreshing words you wrote. I know you won’t get to see your kids but they will be in your heart. I hope you have a wonderful time at home or wherever you choose to spend it. I am actually going to spend it with my parents and siblings. Not sure what I am going to wear but for sure will be something super comfy. Sending you lots of hugs and kisses and many blessings. Take care!! Jeannette

What a beautiful dress, and the shoes! Is that a magnifying glass pendant you’re wearing? (I have one that looks very similar). Enjoy the holiday (I’m not really familiar with this one).
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you Tiina, and I do realize this is our national holiday only, but its a day of giving Thanks, dating back to the pilgrims.

I HAD to stop by , ( I have wanted to ) but You and I have the exact same dress ( and I am wearing it this week) great minds think alike. Perfect on you, love the color of course. I think we sometimes forget all the things and blessings we have in life, so it is great to take stock in this. Enjoy your day and Holiday!

Jess, this doesn’t surprise me one single bit (about the dress). Are you posting it? I want to see how you style it and what shoes you wear with this.
Jess says
Hi Trina! Yes, I am posting it on THanksgiving Day, but figure if people don’t get to it they can check it out Friday. Funny huh? jess xx

What a gorgeous wrap dress, but the brogue shoes really spoke to me.
Our Thanksgiving was last month, so we are all finished for the year. I do like to get dressed up though.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
bisous

I kind of like my little brogue shoes as well, so thank you. My hubby was actually up in your neck of the woods during your Thanksgiving, he quite enjoyed it. I still need to make that trip with him and now the cold as already set in.

I want to rush over to your hpuse and say “take care of me instead, spoil me rotten”.. haha. But I cannot and won’t.
You are right. Even though they do not come home, you have a lot to be thankful for.
Your pumpkin dress is lovely. I like it best with your leopard pumps. And I knew Suzanne would prefer your brogues. Ahhh.. Tastes… They do differ.

I would love to spoil and take care of you for this weekend. After one day of feasting we could spend the rest of the weekend shopping, and relaxing together.
I didn’t put this in my post but I am flying out of town for the holiday. We decided if the kiddos couldn’t come to us we would go to see at least one of them. Riley (our son) has a basketball tournament in Honolulu during this time so he kind of won the toss.
nofearoffashion says
I can imagine he won the tosshaha. Have a lovely time and wear a Honolulu skirt.

Oh, Happy Thanksgiving, Trina and Par! I’m sorry you won’t be with the kiddles … this does happen when you raise them right and they are needed to decorate and improve the big wide world! Know you’re proud of them, so remember how good you two did! Love your outfit so much … it s a rare blonde that wears these warm pumpkiny colors so well as you, and as always, you look like a little jewel, no matter what you wear.
We’ll be on our own here, but that’s our tradition … only the menu items we like best (turkey, gravy, my stuffing, asparagus!) Handy to have Dan home to cook a turkey, ’cause they’re perfect every year. He gets a day where he can hang out in his best PJs and fuzzy slippers. All the dogs get turkey, so all is serene … fattening, but serene!

Trina,
I am glad glad that i read this out of order, I was starting to feel melocholic , on your behalf, about the kids being away, life being what it is, and not always being able to see one another. You tricked me in the most deligtful way, know that I know where you went.
That does sound like a lovely thanksgiving, the gathering at your moms, and your lucky kids to wake up to home made pies and pudding in the morning,
Yes, you have so much to be thankful for! I am so glad you take the time out to appreciate, I knew you would.
sending hugs and holiday season cheer.
xx, Elle
