Do you decorate your home for holidays?
Many of my close friends and even my own sister think I’m a funny gal to do what I do but I my home loves it!
I can’t quite remember when I began my love for decorating my home, it must be part of that crazy creative brain and energy I have. But, when the season and holidays roll around even my cute husband will start asking when the decorations will appear.
How to keep it fresh and new each year?
I think part of the fun in decorating is keeping it fresh and new each year. I usually had something new each year (that’s part of that creative brain, we get bored easily). But really I usually just switch things around. Like this year I decided to use my quilt that I used outdoors a few years ago to set the dining table with. I love to keep it set for guest, plus it gives me that extra push to invite friends and family over for a few meals.
How I choose my table scape (center piece).
This is the fun part and anyone can do this, simply look around at the things you have on hand that go with the color scheme.
I always begin with my center piece, this year it’s a cute red tin chalk board which I quickly added a little art to.
Then I just add items that seem to flow together that add different height and color- like serving bowls filled with potpouri, tea kettles, plants, books, etc. Just have fun with it, make it unique.
But most importantly make your table inviting.
Placing vignettes throughout the home.
I also place a few objects here and there throughout my home to enjoy. I never overpower an area, a little vignette can speak volumes.
If you’re a new follower of mine, here’s a look at past 4th of July celebrations here and here.
As always my friends thanks for dropping by. Have a wonderful day! And don’t think on the 4th I’ll be spending it indoors, this is the day we attend the parade have an annual pool party followed by a huge BBQ. Now I’m off to begin the prep for that day.

Hi Trina,
Love your decorations. I too decorate for 4th of July with a patriotic tablecloth, small flags in a red vase and my red, white & blue quilts around the house. I have a lot of fun decorating and finding treasures at yard sales, etc. Thanks for more ideas!!
