I Know summer doesn’t actually begin for another week or so but school’s out and the weather says summer! And there is no better way to begin summer than with a trip to a local (Independent) book store, a library, and even a little downloading on your nook or kindle. Even as a child, the first official day of summer I hopped on my bike with a backpack in toe and headed to my local library. When I began teaching school it didn’t leave me a lot of free time to read fun books but I always celebrated the last day of the school year by heading to a bookstore and loading up for the summer. It was a tradition I kept with my children on their last day of the school year (and then we headed to a pool).
Although I’m no longer teaching, there’s just something about reading outdoors that get me all excited to devour some fun books. I treasure the early mornings in my backyard with the birds chirping in the background, or sitting by the pool with some girlfriends, and the evenings as I sit on my front porch always with a book in hand.
So here’s my summer treasure I currently picked up at my local Independent bookstore (The Kings English). I’m a true believer in supporting Independent bookstores when possible.
And I still thoroughly enjoy trips to the library as well.
As much as I love the feel of a book in my hands, I mean just look at the texture and inside cover of this beauty . . .
When traveling, which I do often, my trusty nook is the only book I take.
Here’s the current downloads for my summer on the go reads.
*I just finished Love Water Memory last night. It was one of those unputdownable reads, one you continue to think about the characters for days afterwards.
Love to hear what’s on your summer reading list, please do share.
As always my friends, thanks for dropping by. Have a most wonderful day . . go grab yourself a fun summer book to read.
