This week the adorable Cherie at style nudge invited me to be her co-host for her weekly shoe and tell and with mother’s day around the corner, I decided it would be the perfect time to share my early mother’s day gift.
What mother doesn’t love flowers? Well I know this one certainly does, in fact, I wrote a few years ago (here) about receiving a wonderful bouquet of fresh dandelions. It’s no secret that my adult children know my love of flowers, especially the ones carefully planted in my garden. And yet if you were to ask either one of them what their mother really loves, both would most likely shout . . . SHOES! So this year, with much delight, they combined both loves and gave their momma some happy shoes.
One pair being these overly comfy birkenstocks.
When Cherie asked me to describe my style, I kind of laughed because it’s really quite casual these days although I like to think of myself as a casual chic kind of dresser. I think my children have embraced my casual chic style. Pairing these fun birkenstocks with a linen skirt and floral eyelet blouse gives just the right casual chic look that I enjoy.
The other pair were these fun floral sneakers.
This seriously shows off my casual look.
But I sometimes know when to embrace the lady-like feminine style. And a change of shoes is really all you need.
Shoes, and possibly a hat and some more lace.
Receiving the gift of shoes is always a welcomed, fun, and enjoyable gift which I definitely put to use but the best gift which I receive year after year from this sweet daughter is her gift of time.
She gladly shows up on an early Saturday morning (even flying in from Omaha) and spends the entire day helping me plant my flower gardens. It’s amazing how much more enjoyable two sets of hands are.
I hope all you woman, mother’s or not, have a wonderful Mother’s day this next weekend.

Tori even flew in for putting plants in your flower beds? Gosh, makes me feel like a bad daughter haha. (I am not I know.) very sweet of her.
I like your sneakers with the grey dress. Jot too keen on the Birkenstocks with the white skirt. Of course the white skirt with those fabulous sandals, is completely my taste. I think we could talk for hours on shoes haha.
Happy mother’s day Trina.

It had been 7 weeks since I last saw my cute girls so it was the perfect excuse for to have her fly home for a few days. They left this morning and dang, it just never gets easy, especially now that Molly understands so much and is so fun to be around. But my flower beds look amazing.
No Fear of Fashion says
No, I suppose saying goodbye to your loved ones, never gets easy. Perhaps you can come up with an activity which immediately takes your mind of them leaving? Something you love to do and have to leave the house for. Or not…, whatever works best.
Lunch with friends? Bookclub? Something you can plan for the moment after they left? That might make it easier?

Love your outfits ! I do so agree that the extra set of hands and the company they bring is a thing to treasure. Love your lace pieces, especially the first lace top. I am also wild about the grey dress! The shoes, yes those floral treasures are fabulous. it is like combining the best of two wonderful things! I need a pair, but am having trouble finding them in my size..one day! In the meantime I am happily feasting on these!
