With the beginning of each new year I ask myself this question, “IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO SET GOALS?”
And for me, the answer continues to be a big fat YES!
Why . . . ?
Because its a way to help me RELFECT on my past . . .
Review my progress in life . . .
And make Resolutions to improve, to expand, and enrich my life a little every day.
In simple terms . . . It’s a way to stay MOTIVATED.
Now I’m definitely not the type who sits down on January 1st and writes down 10-20 crazy (unattainable goals).
But I am a true lover of actually writing down goals . . .
Old fashion-Pen to paper
From Monthly goals . . .
To daily agendas . . .
To a simple TODAY I will accomplish . . .
Yes, I think it may be a little bit of the OCD in me that enjoys the checking it off at the end of the day.
I will leave you with a few of my pointers or what works for me . . .
*Make a few fun attainable New Year Goals
(for example) Entertain more, invite friends over for a Sunday Dinner once a month
Read 12 new books (that’s one a month)
Be a better blogger (this means get on some sort of schedule)
Try something new
Get up one hour earlier this year (I’m terrible at sleeping in)
Simply take the time to choose OLW (one little word). I’ve been doing this for the past two years and absolutely love it. You choose one word which reflects, or sparks meaning to you, a word that speaks to you. One that will motivate and help you improve your daily life.
This year my OLW is SEEK. As I was trying to decide on my word I had three in mind, seek, unity, and uplift. I shared these with my daughter and she later that day responded with this kind message.
” I like that unity, seek, and uplift all have a common theme . . . serving. Serving others creates unity and you have to seek those who need to be served which ultimately uplists you and them when you serve.”
Apparently my main goal to help me enrich, uplift and inspire my life this year is to Seek to Serve others more often. I can’t think of a better way to live my life.
As always my friends, thanks for dropping by. Have a most wonderful day!
