At the beginning of this New Year I decided to embrace a OLW.
OLW stands for one little word. . .
Ali Edwards began this workshop a few years ago and you basically choose a word for the year and then make it a part of your life.
She has little prompts and activities each month to help you embrace, feel, and basically bring it to life.
Ali recommends to actually go the old fashion route and hand write a lot of these prompts. I hesitated at first but then quickly realized how greatly I had missed this personal pencil/pen to paper activity. It actually made my mind and heart connect to this word.
As you can see my chosen word for 2014 is Celebrate.
It took me a few weeks to really think about the word I needed this year . . .
One that would help me achieve some new goals . . .
One that would help me see more beauty in the world . . .
One that would help me be a better friend, mother, and wife . . .
And one that would lead me to share some moments of happiness with others . . .
It was when I looked at this photo of my sweet Molly (my granddaughter) that I knew what my word would be.
Even at 3 months old . . .
She taught me the true meaning of CELEBRATING each and every day.
(this is how she is already viewing the world)
Here’s a quick look at some of January’s prompts and how I’ve begun my journal.
I’m going to try and post on Friday’s how and what I celebrated over the week. I would love for any of you to share what you have celebrated as well. You can send me your pictures or just a brief word through email and I will add them to the weekly celebrations.
As always my friends, thanks for dropping by. Go find a reason to celebrate today.
Because truly, everyday should be a celebration.

That’s a very nice idea, Trina! I’ll put this on my calendar.
You have such a nice handwriting.

Thank you Annette, I look forward to seeing some of the ways you celebrate. Thanks for the compliment on the handwriting as well, I owe that to the good ole fashion writing on the board as a teacher.

Often people get so involved in things around them that
they start taking their partner for granted. So, if at all possible, schedule your cheat meal soon after a workout.
Are planning to ‘cheat’ and shatter your protocols in weight loss.

Ah…I remember the good old days when Ali Edwards was just another scrapbooker at the same trade shows where I hawked my goods. Some people go onto greatness while others… I guess that is totally against the grain of this post LOL.
I’ve been meaning to scrapbook and still haven’t. I wanted to make a journal where every night I write down on the left side of the page what I’m grateful for and on the right side of the page 5 goals for the following day.
Your book looks like fun. Can’t wait to see and read what you celebrated this weekend.
bisous

Haha, believe or not, I never got into scrap booking so I hadn’t heard of Ali Edwards before a friend of mine told me about the OLW. I’ve always love photography and took plenty of pictures of the kids while growing up, I just always thought it was such a waist of time spending hours scrap booking their memories when all they cared about was seeing the actual pictures. I made sure they were all put in acid free binders and in some kind of order, and it worked for me. I sure wish digital had been around when they were little tikes.
I love you journal idea!

You are a few steps ahead of me. I also chose a word for 2014. And I never have any resolutions. Funny how the cosmos (God, universe, Buddah.. ) works.
My word is Positive. Or “Be positive”. As I can fly off the handle too easy. Getting angry at any injustice….and there are so many cases of injustice (especially at work).
I try not to worry and replace negative thoughts by positive. Thus trying to enjoy life more and live more happily. My life is really quite happy anyway.
Any flying to Europe in your plans? LOL

And I celebrated my life with my husband this weekend. My computer wouldn’t start and I saw this as a sign to leave it alone and spend some quality time with Ron. Time well spent.

Sometimes I think we should just shut all technology down for a few days, it’s a sure way of spending quality time. We have a little ritual when we’re all together as a family (even the extended family) where we all put our cell phones in a pile together as we enter the home, and we don’t touch them until we leave. It was the only way to get the teenages and now young adults to actually be present.

I absolutely love your word. You are one of the most positive blogger friends I know, so keep it up. I’m really hoping to fly to Europe early Sept.-Oct. but I’ll keep you posted. Although, your tulip season would be a dream come true.
