ON MY RECENT TRAVEL ADVENTURE TO ENGLAND
I WENT MAINLY TO EXPERIENCE THE
BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY SIDE . .
TO VISIT SIGHTS AND HISTORICAL PLACES OF MY FAVORITE LITERATURE HEROES . . .
AND TO FILL MY CREATIVE INSPIRATIONS . . .
I SERIOUSLY DIDN’T SET OUT TO SHOP . . . but . . .
HOW COULD I RESIST A CRAVAT AND SOME HATS ???
AFTERALL, I WAS IN ENGLAND.
HERE’S TO THE AMERICAN VERSION OF MY NEW ENGLISH CRAVAT AND HAT
(I do hope the British will approve)
THE FIRST OUTFIT I PUT TOGETHER IS MORE TRADITIONAL
white blouse with cravat tucked inside the blouse, red knit pullover sweater, tweed jacket, wool pencil skirt, argyle hose and booties
THE SECOND OUTFIT IS MY CASUAL VERSION
grey pinstripe button down with cravat worn outside, rust color cardigan, also layered with wool blazer, and skinny jeans with wedged moccasins.
AS I TRAVELED TO MANY BEAUTIFUL PLACES I WAS ONCE AGAIN REMINDED TODAY OF THE ESQUISITE AND BREATHTRAKING VIEW I HAVE JUST OUT MY FRONT DOOR. AWE, THOSE MAJESTIC MOUNTAINS . . .
So, my friends, what are some unexpected craving you find yourself buying . . . and what are some unexpected breathtaking views have you found just outside your front door?
While your at it, join me over at Patti’s for Visible Monday and
Judith for her monthly HAT ATTACK and some other hat loving ladies.

You’re a woman after my own heart! I love everything about both outfits. In fact, I have a hat very similar to yours. I blame my love of tweedy outfits on the fact that I’m an English lit proffie; I like to feel like I’m strolling through one of my beloved novels.
As for views outside my window, well, I live on the west coast of B.C., so there is no shortage of spectacular mountain and/or ocean views here. Check out my blog and you’ll see what I mean.

Charlotte, love your blog. Thanks for dropping by and introducing yourself, I look forward to following you as well. I totally relate to wanting to feel as if your strolling through one of those beloved novels. That’s basically what we tried to do last month, I think that’s why it was a girl friend only trip, haha.

Terrific hat. Looks só cute on you. And the cravat is a lovely colour edition. Both outfits are perfect (great shoes as always). And I am sure the British would totally approve. They would think you to be British.
Views for me are limited but I like old mansions, gardens, parks, woods and I have the beach 10 minutes drive away.

trinagrandinetti says
The view I glimpsed from the plane was quite breathtaking and your last post had some beautiful scenery as well.
nofearoffashion says
Ah… we have lots of places like that. No great and far views though. You can see far but it is boring. We are a very flat country.
josepmbadia says
They look gorgeous, Trina. I love this combination of colors as autumn, and I love your look with the beautiful hat. All parts of the outfit are gorgeous: hat, sweater, jacket, skirt, shoes, tights, … And the photos are lovely. The look with the scarf as a tie is cute, a delicate sophistication, with mix of casual and chic touches, fantastic! A great post.
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you Josep-Maria, those British had me totally sold with their cravats as scarfs and all their hat shops were wonderful.
Rebecca says
It is so nice to have you back in the blogging world again Trina. I love these photos and you look wonderful in the new hat! By the way, the necklace is beautiful. It is an antique?
trinagrandinetti says
It is truly nice to be home and back to the blogging world once again. Yes, my necklace is an antique (well I inherited from my grandmother) so I guess its now an antique.
Patti @ NotDeadYet Style says
Glorious hat, Trina! And gorgeous pictures; you look so fresh and lovely. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you, Patti for hosting our fun get together.

Outstanding hat Trina! I could see why you needed it, I would too. I love it with your outfit. These pictures are beautiful, what pleasing country to the eye. Super shoes in both outfits. Beautifully done!

It’s always such a compliment coming from you when I can capture some beautiful, and pleasing pictures, so thank you dear Ann.
Spashionista (Alicia) says
You belong on the pages of Vogue in these outfits! I’m so jealous of your trip. I’ve always wanted to visit the UK and I have friends there that are always trying to tempt me to go. I’m just in love with that hat framing your lovely face!
Alicia
trinagrandinetti says
Oh, sweet Alicia, you are so much fun and kind. If you have friends over in the UK that are tempting you, I say just pack those bags and go!
fashionovafifty says
OMG LOVE the hat! And how perfectly do those colors in first photos go with the landscape! Xoxo
trinagrandinetti says
I was quite thrilled that some Autumn colors were still hanging on when I got home. Don’t you just love when the landscape can help determine an outfit?
ariane says
both versions are fantastic but i prefer the first one –
What about that mountain view, is really your front door view?
Arianexo
trinagrandinetti says
Ariane, Yes, the mountain view is seriously right out my front door. The photos were taken just down the road (walking distance) from my front porch. I forget how incredibly beautiful they are until I leave them behind for awhile.
The Style Crone says
I have learned so much from you and how you put pieces together to make a breathtaking composition. I’m smitten with your hat with many unique details, topping off an ensemble of perfection. Thank you so much for linking up with Hat Attack.
trinagrandinetti says
To think you may learn one thing from me is such a compliment, thank you, thank you!
Jan Graham-McMillen says
Beautiful. I’m taking a page out of your I-Want-To-Be-Just-Like-Trina-Training-Manual and trying to recombine casual and dressy. The only way to fly, clearly. Your hat will take you everywhere you want to go in it!
trinagrandinetti says
Haha, now that could be quite a fun filled manual (full of experimenting and let’s see how this works?) But, thank you for putting great big smile on my face. I’m looking forward to seeing your combo of casual and dressy.
Suzanne says
Is there anything better than classic European dressing?
You look fabulous. Rocking a scarf like the best English or French I’ve met : )
I am jealous of your mountain view.
bisous
Suzanne
trinagrandinetti says
I don’ think there is anything better and classic Europeen dressing, right? They sure know how to make simple, chic, and classy look timeless.
silkpathdiary says
I love both looks, you look beautiful! The colours are so rich and perfect for this time of year. You also have the most amazing view!
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you, and I do love my view, those mountains just seem to hug you every time you walk outdoors. Quite the comforting feeling.
Jean at Dross into Gold says
Silk and wool, tweed and leather. Crisp Autumn leaves and snowcapped mountains. OMG. Such richness, and you look beautiful. XXOO
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you Jean, the richness of the beautiful scenery is such a great reminder of how blessed we are with the simple things in life.
Beata says
Both outfits are gorgeous but the first one is my favourite, I just love the mix of colours and your hat is simply amazing! Hugs
Beata
trinagrandinetti says
Thank you Beata, I also love the first outfit especially for this season. Hugs back to you.
Sue @ A Colourful Canvas says
Stunning view, and to learn that these photos were snapped only a short stroll from your home! I’m lucky too! I live near the ocean and never tire of the view. We also live near the mountains, but because of how our home is sited, I only see them after either a long walk or a short car ride.
Totally loving your British inspired outfits! I did the same thing when I returned home from England many, many years ago. I had been to Portobello Road, and bought a great hat among other treasures, and enjoyed a borrowed from the boys look for many months after my return home.
Fabulous!
trinagrandinetti says
Oh, Sue Portobello Road was so much fun. I could have spent the entire day there (oh, wait, I think we did spend the entire the day there). I do enjoy your many photos of you by the Ocean side, they are so lovely and refreshing.
Elle Berman says
Trina, Oh to have view like that, how wonderful!
Now to your outfit. I Do NOT approve– I ADORE!
I used to live in a four story tudor overlooking 2 ponds, and i loved my view, but now i live in a small city place overlooking a beautiful pre-war building and a patch of sky, and I love that, too!
Thanks for posting this breath taking post!!
XX, truly XX, Elle

I too love our beautiful mountains that surround us, No matter where your dad and I have traveled, Europe, Thitti, New zealand, Hawaii and various states within the country, we still marvel at these majestic mountains that we come home to. I never take for granted the beauty that I wake up to each morning to see the sunrise coming up over the Wasatch mountains and setting over the Oquirrh mountains never ceases to amaze me.
